It's debatable if you should do your own oil change, or take your car to a shop. There are plenty of great filter options out there, but you get dirty and use your day off to save a couple bucks. That's why a lot of people decide to take their car to Jiffy Lube.
You might want to rethink letting them touch your car though if a recent story is true. It seems that a man's car burst into flames just minutes after getting an oil change at Jiffy Lube. iPhone video caught the blaze that use to be Brian Heredia’s car.
Heredia said the first flames came from the back of the engine compartment and that's when he saw tongues of fire start coming up the windshield. He stopped the car and quickly got out.
“It was pretty terrifying,” Heredia said, adding “thankfully that I had unlocked the car before ... so I was able to get out".
The Cobb County, Georgia Fire Department said Heredia called 911 at 11:17 a.m. Sixteen minutes earlier, he'd been cashing out at Jiffy Lube on Delk Road about 9 miles away when the car began burning.
“I blame Jiffy Lube because my car burst into flame without me making any stops.”
