Update: Nickelback WILL NOT Be Making a Slayer Cover Album

It seems that Slayer fans have been waiting on the edge of their seats for the long anticipated Nickelback sings Slayer cover album to drop. We hate to inform you that the idea is now shelved and 'hard rock' band Nickelback will not be releasing any Slayer covers.

The rumor first started when Nickelback bass guitarist and founder Mike Kroeger mentioned a potential cover album in a 2019 interview. He stated that the whole band loves metal and then added that he would love to do a whole record of Slayer covers.

Recently, Mike set the record straight and said that the comment was taken out of context. He made it clear that Nickelback will not be tackling the project. In fact, he was just talking out loud in the interview about ideas he wishes he could do.

He did say that he wouldn't rule out a cover record, but the whole band isn't onboard with the idea. Fellow band member and drummer Daniel Adair is a big Slayer fan as well, but the rest of the band doesn’t share his taste in Slayer. Time is also a determining factor:

“What I listen to without fail… If we could actually sink in and do a metal album, all four of us would love it. I know that we’re all — on differing scales — metalheads at our core. We all know everything about the ‘Big Four’ Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer. I would do a Slayer cover album if I could. That’s where my heart lies. There are just never enough hours in the day to do everything, but let’s just say I wouldn’t count it out.”
