Tomorrow is National No Bra Day
Tomorrow as you walk around the workplace or gym, you might notice that women are a little more 'out there'. Don't stare too hard at those high beams though - it would be rude. The reason why you might notice a a more prominent nipple display is because October 13th is National No Bra Day.
No Bra Day is a holiday of sorts, part of October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The goal is to raise awareness for breast cancer and provide support for those affected while raising funds for research - and hopefully a cure.
Every guy out there is a fan of boobies at some level, so participating and supporting the issue is just as important to men. Many of us can say we know someone who went through a battle with breast cancer - a mom, wife, sister, or girlfriend. Needless to say, its a traumatizing experience that can effect the whole family.
So how can you show your support?
October 18th is National Mammography Day, so talk to your loved one and encourage them to make a doctors appointment and get a screening. Yearly mammograms can help detect the signs of cancerous tissue before it's too late. Early detection is the key to survival from the potentially fatal disease.
Not to make light of the topic, you can also help her with self exams. A study by Johns Hopkins Medical Center concluded that “40 percent of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump.” Next time you're intimate and touching the goods, pay attention and let her know if anything feels unusual. If there is any discoloration, lumpiness, or tenderness schedule a doctors appointment immediately.
Here is an info-graphic from the UVA Cancer Center that shows how to conduct a breast self exam - share it with her.
