11 Year Old Girl Beats Einstein and Hawking on Mensa Test

According to IFPNews.com, Iranian high school student Tara Sharifi has outscored Einstein and Stephen Hawking on the Mensa IQ test. Tara is 11 years old.

Tara is a student at Aylesbury High School in the United Kingdom, and recently took the Mensa test in Oxford and scored well above the 140 required to be labeled a genius. If you're wondering, she scored a 162 - beating the estimated IQ's of Einstein and Hawking by 2 points.

The Mensa IQ test, focuses on the ability to understand the meanings of words, and must be completed in a set time. Tara says “I was shocked when I got the result – I never expected to get such a good score.”

She now qualifies for membership in the Mensa Club AKA the High IQ Society which provides a forum for intellectual exchange among its members. There group has members in more than 100 countries around the world.

“It was a joint decision between me and my parents to take the test,” the girl said. “It will be a wonderful opportunity to meet other people within the Mensa system. I have told some of my friends at school and they were really impressed.”

Her father was even surprised by her score. “I am extremely proud but very surprised at how well Tara scored,” her father, Hossein. “I figured she might do well when we watched TV and she would get maths questions before the contestants. I knew she was very clever but I did not think she would have such a high IQ.”

As far as future aspirations she says she plans to pursue “something related to mathematics.”
