Conspiracies Surround the Notre Dame Cathedral Burning
In you didn’t hear about it , the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris just recently burned down. The building is one of the most important historical buildings in the world and houses a huge collection of artifacts including the crown of thorns - a relic that Christians believe was the very head piece Jesus wore upon the cross at the crucifixion. Now questions are being raised about how could such a fire occur, and were there criminal acts involved. So we have some conspiracy talk starting. Let's take a look at them and see if there's any truth to the Notre Dame conspiracy theories.
One bit of conspiracy circulating around the internet is that the blaze was planned. The rumor is blatantly false. This centers around a news story which showed that four days before the fire, 16 statutes were removed from the top. Removing the Notre Dame statues was part of a $150 million renovation the cathedral was undergoing. The statues were representations of the 12 apostles and four evangelists of the bible. They were to be worked on and were taken down and shipped to a location in France for safe keeping.
Some have noted that suspected terrorists operatives were apprehended near the cathedral the day of the blaze. Two suspects, a 34 year old man and a 29 year old man, were arrested late Tuesday and remain in custody after "...espousing the ideology of Daesh” which is an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State AKA ISIS.
Nearby, a suspicious vehicle was brought to the attention of authorities and searched. The vehicle was a Peugeot 607 that was parked improperly with its lights on and no license plates. It was discovered that the vehicle was reported as stolen and after a search no type of explosive devices were found inside - though Arabic documents were found.
Furthering the Notre Dame fire conspiracy is the witnesses who have captured photos of Muslims laughing during the blaze. Of course, no one can certify as to what exactly they were laughing about, but it doesn't look good given the somber situation in Paris. Jihad sympathizers also took to Twitter to share videos of the burning with smiling emojis. It's understandable that Parisians would have fears of additional terrorists acts given previous bombings in November 2015 but at this time no terrorist connection can be found.
Another theory is that the Notre Dame cathedral burning was some sort of ultimate Satanic or Illuminati ceremony. A mega display of the power global elites have over the world. The 800 year old landmark can be viewed as a definitive symbol of Christian values, so torching it would be a real statement. A Rolling Stone writer named E.J. Dickson even celebrated the downfall of the cathedral as an 'Act of Liberation" stating:
"For some people in France, Notre Dame has also served as a deep-seated symbol of resentment, a monument to a deeply flawed institution and an idealized Christian European France that arguably never existed in the first place"
Sure, burning Notre Dame would be a supreme Illuminati power move if it were true. But there is nothing to substantiate such a claim. It looks like the fire was an unfortunate accident that broke out during the renovation process. It makes sense to ask how such a fire could happen, but hundreds of fire fighters responded and struggled to contain the blaze. Linking it to the Illuminati just doesn't make sense at this point.
The mega rich have stepped up and pledged over a billion dollars to rebuild the cathedral, only to be met with criticism about growing social inequalities in France. Social justice warriors have also used the cathedral to accuse white people of being triggered, and called the building nothing more than a tourism landmark. Others wondered how many artifacts had been stolen from other colonies. It's a sad response to a great tragedy which shows the state we are in as a world - rather than sympathize, use an event to further your own political or social cause.
