Chuck E. Cheese 'Recycled Pizza' Conspiracy Theory
No one is safe when it comes to conspiracy theories. The latest one to make its way to YouTube is the strange conspiracy that says restaurant chain Chuck E. Cheese is recycling uneaten pizzas and reselling them to unsuspecting customers. Yeah.
YouTuber Shane Dawson, who has 20 million followers, posted a video proposing the theory. He says that he first considered the possibility that Chuck E. Cheese was recycling pizzas as a kid. He admits the idea is crazy, but still wonders if employees gather up uneaten slices and use them to form a new pizza for the next pizza order.
He posted some images that show some pretty wonky looking pizzas that do look pieced together, and claims that he knew a girl in high school who said she had heard of this practice, but didn't present any evidence.
The restaurant denies the allegation and issued a response to combat the negative word of mouth, stating the conspiracy theory is "unequivocally false" and that "our pizzas are made to order and we prepare our dough fresh in restaurant, which means that they’re not always perfectly uniform in shape."
Employees took to Reddit to defend Chuck E. Cheese, saying: "All the slices are from the same pizza, it’s just when the pizza comes out of the oven, they place it on a cutting board in order to slice it. The slicer is very large and kind of heavy, so some ppl have a lot of difficulty trying to cut the pizza perfectly. [That’s] why some slices are different sizes [than] others."
Another said: "After the pizza is done being cut, the cook slides it onto a tray to carry out to the guests. It’s when the pizza is being slid off of the cutting board and onto the tray where it gets kind of wonky looking."
Dawson may have achieved his goal with the bizarre pizza theory, as the video received 14 million views in just 2 days.
