Kleenex are now Sexiest
Ladies and gentlemen, Political Correctness has reached a new level of absurdity as Kimberly-Clark, the company that makes Kleenex, has decided to rename its 'Mansize' tissues after complaints of sexism.
The company states that there has been a "consistent increase of complaints on gender concern." The complaints stem from the tissues packaging which states that the nose wipes are "confidently strong" and "comfortingly soft" along with the "Mansize" branding. That sounds to us rather positive, teaching men that they can be gentle while still being masculine.
Social Justice Warriors disagree, taking the tissues on as their latest social cause, fighting for equality the way they know best - by complaining on Twitter.
One woman wrote: "My 4yo son asked me what was written here. Then he asked, why are they called mansize? Can girls, boys & mummies use them? I said: I don’t know & yes of course. He suggests you should call them “very large tissues”. It is 2018."
Kleenex Mansize tissues have been on the shelves of your local market for over 60 years, and remain one of the company's most popular products selling over 3.4 million boxes per year. In all that time no one took offense, but here in 2018 everything is offensive - even the rag you blow your nose into.
Kimberly-Clark of course took an equally politically correct route in its response to the complainers, saying that the tissues “no way suggests” that being strong and soft is “an exclusively masculine trait, nor do we believe that the Mansize branding suggests or endorses gender inequality.”
The company has bowed to the pressure of #tissuegate and further commented “We are always grateful to customers who take time to tell us how our products can be improved, and we carefully consider all suggestions. Thanks to recent feedback we are now re-branding our Mansize tissues to Kleenex Extra Large,"
