Casey Anthony Apparently Abandons Caylee’s Gravesite
Notorious mother Casey Anthony has apparently abandoned the gravesite of her late daughter, Caylee, pictures posted by Radar Online Wednesday showed. Anthony was infamously acquitted of murdering the 2-year-old in 2011.
A cross was placed at the site where Caylee’s remains were found nearly a decade ago. It reads, “Caylee Marie,” but the foliage around the memorial is overgrown. The location of Caylee’s remains is not far from where Anthony lived in Orlando, Florida.
“Caylee’s memorial site is so desolate and depressing,” an insider told Radar Online Wednesday. “It’s heartbreaking to see Caylee’s memory disregarded like that. The items at the memorial are either left to rot, already destroyed or covered in dirt.”
Caylee’s abandoned grave is further proof that Anthony is a selfish person. “All her life, Casey’s never cared about anyone but herself, and that hasn’t changed,” one source said. “She’s never taken any of the blame for what happened to Caylee, and she’s left everyone else holding the bag for her.”
The 31-year-old apparently “blacked out” the death of her daughter, defense attorney Cheney Mason told LawNewz in a July interview. “I believe that Casey’s mind, in some dimension, I guess the common word would say, ‘snapped,’” Mason, who was a part of Anthony’s legal team, said. “She didn’t go crazy by any means – but blackout, completely a blackout – of what went on and what happened.”
Anthony, who is also known as “Tot Mom” thanks to TV host Nancy Grace, apparently didn’t realize her daughter was dead until her 2011 murder trial started. “Casey, as we established with an expert witness at the end of the trial, grieved and comprehended differently than anyone else what happened,” Mason told LawNewz. “She went into what I call ‘Casey World.’ She shut it out.”
In a March interview with the Associated Press, Anthony claimed she didn’t know what happened to the toddler. “I didn't know at the time,” she said. “I'm still not even certain as I stand here today sure about what happened.”
She didn’t start to mourn for her daughter until she listed to a grief counselor testify at her trial.
“She just snapped… when that testimony came out, I was sitting next to her and I don’t remember whether I had my arm on her shoulder or was just holding her hand while that testimony was going on, but she started shaking and shivering and she cried,” Mason said. “All the time I’ve known her and all the times I’ve seen her, I had never seen this. It was clear to me – my personal opinion – that it was the first time she consciously was actually aware that her daughter had died.”
While she might have the reputation as being “the most hated mom in America,” Anthony doesn’t care. “I don’t give a shit what anyone thinks about me, I never will,” she told the AP in March. “I’m okay with myself, I sleep pretty good at night.”
