The founding fathers built a clause into the Constitution which allows for government to collect taxes for a few necessary things for the good of all. Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 says : 'Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States'.
Sure, defense sounds great - but when was the last time there was a war on American soil? Instead, we fight wars for other people and don't get the money back - while our servicemen die in combat for questionable causes. When they return, we offer little support for dealing with the traumas and baggage they brought home that makes life nearly impossible to cope with.
We allow American goods to be undersold to foreign nations, while allowing them to send often lower quality goods to our stores unchecked. We don't charge fair import fees, then wonder why American jobs have disappeared and salaries have stalled.
How did we get to the point we are at now, with our incomes being taxed repeatedly? And how did we lose control of how this money is used? Roads are in terrible condition, water supplies in many city's are not even drinkable, and then we are told that the only solution is to raise taxes even further to meet these demands.
Let's take a look at the taxes you pay and then you can decide if taxation is a form of slavery.
After all that hard work at a job you probably don't like, government takes 25-50% of your hard earned money before you see a dime of it. Congress earns ten times what you do, and votes to give themselves raises when you haven't seen one in a couple years despite the increasing cost of living.
After being taxed already, the state decides that they want to take another 5-10% of your money. They say it's for schools, but your kids come home with boxes of stuff for the latest school sponsored fundraiser so that you can go door to door with them and sell it. As you drive over a pothole, you hear on the radio that a proposed bill would raise taxes to pay for road repairs. You wonder "Isn't this what the income tax was supposed to be for?"
After all those other deductions, you still managed to save enough to buy a home. Good job! You have achieved the American Dream of owning property. Now we can take thousands of dollars per year of your money - even after the house is paid off. We will then pass laws to dictate what you can do in your home, and push to remove your right to own a gun to fight back against us.
Capital Gains Tax
You want to retire one day to enjoy that house you bought, so you put away a few dollars out of every paycheck to invest for retirement. Now we will tax any 'gains' you make in the stock market at 20-50%, and if your investment guy makes a few bad calls - you can only deduct a portion of the losses.
After years of hard work, you die. But you were smart enough to leave a will so that your kids can benefit from those assets you accumulated over a lifetime of slavery. But only after we take a cut. Even in death - the tax man will find a way to collect his due.
What can you do to fight against taxation? Nothing. Just smile and pay while those in power take a bigger cut, and those who refuse to work hold out their hands and add to YOUR debt.
