With Superbowl LIII coming up in just a few weeks, it's time we paid tribute to the lovely ladies who keep us entertained during the game: NFL Cheerleaders. Many people don't know it, but the Baltimore Colts became the first NFL team to have cheerleaders way back in 1954. Since then, the cheerleader has become as American as apple pie. Currently 26 out of 32 teams have a cheer squad to help keep the crown pumped up, even when your team is losing. The girls do it for the love of the game and the chance to catapult themselves to bigger things. That's because the cheer business is super competitive and hundreds of girls will often show up to try out for a single opening on a squad. The truth is, cheer leading isn't a high paying job. In fact, most cheerleaders work as many as five hours a night, five nights a week for as little as $15 a game according to one article. After all those practices, they do community appearances at schools, events, and conferences as well as regularly perform for the United States Armed Forces overseas - hoping to keep troop morale high and spread the love of the game. Now some would say that cheer leading is sexist, but hey these girls are free to pursue any other career. We do agree that they work hard to keep us entertained, so stand up and make some noise when they are performing to let them know how appreciated they are. In between games, check out this weeks collection of sexy NFL cheerleaders.
