You know we can be a little kinky, after all we did do a post about the bondage website Reflective Desire awhile back, and that's why when we came across some Shibari images online we had to look for more. That of course led us down the YouTube video spiral and now we are hooked on both the kink factor and artistry. Even last weeks post with the Sexy Thicc Starbucks girl had a hint of some cosplay bondage.
So you're probably asking yourself: What is Shibari? The short answer is Japanese rope bondage. We like to think of it as stylized rope binding elevated to an art form. Some of the images below, and artistry of the bindings, are quite breath taking. Simply put, someone submissive agrees to be bound and what happens after that is up to the participants. According to one practitioner, Shibari is about “about giving permission, about taking power.” That requires trust - being bound and immobile means that the person standing in front of you is in a position to take advantage of that power. So rope bondage isn't something to break out on a first date, you're more likely to look like a serial killer than Christian Grey, and probably not something to suggest to the girl at the office (at least until you talk to her and find out her kinks).
Check out the collection of Shibari and Japanese rope bondage pics below: we had to pick some of the tamer ones to make this weeks What is Sexy sorta safe for work. For a more detailed explanation of the origins of Shibari and Japanese bondage check out Wikipedia. If you find that Shibari is your cup of tea and you are into fine art, Hikari Kesho offers some prints that are a bit more risque.
