Woman smears menstrual blood on her face to connect to her inner-self

A woman named Yazmina Jade, who proclaims that she is a blood witch and spirit healer, has  dedicated herself to ‘reclaiming the Feminine through embodiment and sisterhood.’ How exactly did she do this? Well, a few days ago Yazmina chose to smear her own menstrual blood on her face to "connect" to her inner-spirit.

‘I decided to place the blood all over my face, and taste it to reclaim that part of myself. I could truly embody all that I was. ‘Through the ritual of painting it on my face, it deepened my bond with my body. I felt this overwhelming love with myself I have never experienced before.

She explained via Instagram:

"Through my teenage years and early 20's I didn’t enjoy or care for my monthly period,’ ‘You could say I had an unhealthy relationship with my monthly bleed and didn’t really enjoy getting it at all... There was a compelete disconnect from my womb and how I felt towards bleeding. ‘I would use tampons that often hurt and felt so unnatural."

‘It’s taken me years to realize that bleeding is a sacred ritual time, for women to go inward, to let go, to create, to use in powerful manifestation and to honor our womb power and Mother Earth.. I have been drawn more and more to reconnecting with my body and especially the womb"…

To reclaim the power of menstruation, Yazmina does a monthly ritual and uses a menstrual cup so she can see her own blood.  She then uses the menstrual fluid in her garden or applies it to her face so she can learn a greater love and respect for her body.

Yazmina shared a photo of her ritual online and she met a  backlash from readers who called her ‘sick’.

She’s since created a video to further explain her reasoning. She feels her menstrual ritual is powerful and hopes sharing her experience will help take down the shame surrounding menstruation. ‘As women, we’re deeply disconnected with our bodies because of societal shame,’ Yazmina explains.

‘We hold sacred wisdom with our wombs. Our blood holds the same wisdom, it’s something to be celebrated, honored and worshiped. Not hidden, disowned and sanitized. ‘We have shamed ourselves as women for bleeding, men have placed this taboo on us for bleeding. It’s a time to reclaim our power through reclaiming that which comes naturally for us.. It’s a blessing.’

Spirit Healer Yazmina hopes to inspire other women with her ritual.
