MusclePharm Combat Crunch Review

July 3, 2017

Now just about anyone who works out supplements their protein requirements with a packaged form - a meal replacement, a powder, or most often a protein bar. Protein Bars are an easy and fast way to get a snack or full meal in and avoid the temptation to run down to the local fast food restaurant on your lunch break. There are plenty of great ones out there, and some truly bad ones. I personally love cake batter or birthday cake flavored things. Of course I try to avoid real cake as much as I can, so when I came across the MusclePharm Combat Crunch Protein Bar in Birthday Cake flavor I was excited that I found a way to please my sweet tooth while still getting a source of protein. If you read my article about the five best protein powders, then you know I have put a lot of thought into what I will recommended. A protein doesn't need to be perfect to be worth buying. Well unfortunately, this is not a positive review.

I have had some MusclePharm products before and they were solid. These birthday cake flavored bars were.....ehhh. I mean it's not that they are inedible, they are just not enjoyable. For starters, they are hard, as in it's a jaw muscle work out to eat them. Flavor wise they are a bland bar coated in a creamy coating that has some kind of candy to provide the birthday cake flavor. The problem was that the coating fell off in clumps, rolling down my shirt and making a trail. Most of the candy flavor clumps rolled onto the floor. Now nutrition wise, here is a chart showing the breakdown:

The positives are they are a source of protein! and have a good serving of fiber which most of us don't get enough of. The price is right. Now if these were on clearance, or the only option I had at a convenience store for lunch, I would pick them up. Otherwise, I gotta say that the MusclePharm Combat Crunch Protein Bar in Birthday Cake flavor is a pass. For more in formation on protein requirements check out: How much protein do I need?
